Muscat: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has announced the appointment of Abdullah bin Rashid Al-Khadouri, Director General of the Directorate General of Meteorology at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), as President of the Asian Federation of the World Meteorological Organization, and a member of the Executive Council of the World Meteorological Organization for 2024.

'The presidency of the AFC is an important achievement for the Sultanate of Oman and in turn contributes to strengthening the presence of Omani national competencies in international organizations and international work, strengthening international relations, as well as contributing to the development of the organization's work, implementing its strategic objectives and exchanging experiences among member states, whether in Asia or all countries of the world,' an official statement said.

AFC Regional Confederation includes 35 countries in Asia, presents opportunities and challenges, and highlights solutions in the areas of weather monitoring, climate, and early warning.

It is also one of the six federations under the management of the World Meteorological Organization, where each union practices and manages all work and activities in each continent in coordination and cooperation with the Secretariat of the General Secretariat of the World Meteorological Organization, and each union works to implement, implement and follow up the organization's strategy, and improve the efficiency of national facilities in Asia.
