Sayyid Badr reiterated legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state in order for lasting peace to prevail in the region, stressing the responsibility of the international community to stop the war and its repercussions.
They agreed that the urgent necessity lies in containing the crisis, preventing its escalation, achieving a ceasefire, saving lives, and opening corridors for the entry of aid, relief and humanitarian materials into the Gaza Strip, releasing the hostages, and setting the path towards the two-state solution and the right to self-determination.
Borrell stressed the great importance that the European Union attaches to the pursuit of peace and stability, and its continued provision of possible support for humanitarian assistance in achieving a just and comprehensive resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
The meeting was attended by Ru'aa bint Issa al Zadjali, Ambassador of Oman accredited to Belgium and the European Union, and officials from both sides.
