Using AI in educational institutions

Public, and private institutions, small and major companies seek to increase their productivity, for which they take various steps and hold various courses, as the evaluation of those companies depends on the increase in their productivity.

One of the methods followed by the people in charge is to depend to a system for knowledge management, which includes institution’s data, information, and plans. They depend on artificial intelligence (AI) applications for knowledge management, given that those applications can do human work and make processes that are pretty much similar to processes conducted by the human brain, such as scanning, comparing and analysing data to make decisions accordingly which allows those companies to dedicate the greatest part of the data analysis time to achieve the results required.

Therefore, no time or effort shall be wasted, which means that employees will dedicate their efforts to achieve the results already set, get the required help and assistance thereof, and develop their skills and capabilities to deal with similar processes, as well as keeping and saving those processes to make use of them in the future.

AI applications have one more added value, as they help companies and institutions to set an easy, flexible, and effective design for knowledge to facilitate its management, as just knowing is not sufficient without having the ability to manage it effectively and properly. Therefore, AI applications provide the ability of knowledge classification under certain titles illustrated below that are easy to refer to whenever required.

1.Explicit (direct) knowledge includes company data, information, research reports, operation scope, plan, vision, and targeted category of its business.

2.Implicit knowledge includes the results concluded after the practical application of ideas, plans, and suggestions, such as skills that could be passed to counterparts and shared among different teams and all other skills or information acquired through work or daily work tasks, as it is possible to set courses for exchanging skills among counterparts.

3. Underlying (personal and self-acquired) knowledge includes the personal aspects that allows an employee to be motivated to develop himself in his scope of work by reading, watching videos, and participating in training courses out of self-motivation. The most significant concern of this kind of knowledge is that it is hard to share and exchange, as it likely comes out of self-motivation and a personal passion for change and improvement.

These kinds of knowledge are extremely significant and have clear impacts on institutions that include them in an active system that can manage and draw their indications.

The Sultanate of Oman responded to these major advancements by allocating a significant part of Oman Vision 2040 that guarantees that Oman is ready to convert to knowledge and innovation production by providing comprehensive, qualitative, and sustainable education and scientific research that will produce a society of knowledge and competitive national potentials. This will only produce an effective system for managing knowledge in schools and other educational institutions by adopting AI applications as a significant tool and effective factor in achieving Oman’s vision in this field.

Using AI applications for knowledge management at Omani schools will save time and effort in restoring, classifying, sorting, and linking data to allow each person in the school community to be aware of the data he needs and where to find them.

Besides, AI applications will help workers in the educational sector to be aware of the significance level of saved data through AI markers which provide the required protection and safety for data. Moreover, AI applications will enhance the results, provide an exciting user experience by saving time and effort, and provide precise and reliable results.

May be it is time to look at the significance of AI applications for our educational knowledge management in order to increase our productivity and invest more in AI and its applications.
