Deal to operate Mirbat Castle, adjoining facilities

MIRBAT: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism on Wednesday signed an agreement with Mirbat-Sadah Development and Investment Company to manage and operate Mirbat Castle.
The agreement also covers the rebuilding and operation of the archaeology antiques market and customs office in the Wilayat of Mirbat in Dhofar Governorate. The agreement was inked by Ibrahim bin Said al Kharousi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Heritage, and Braik bin Musallam al Amri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mirbat-Sadah Development and Investment Company.
The agreement builds on the success ventures undertaken by the ministry to initiate investment opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). It also aims to utilise cultural heritage in a way that ensures its sustainability and maximises benefits. It constitutes a link in a series of actions to achieve the 10th Development Plan and its strategic programmes. The ministry plans to float many historical landmarks for privately-owned companies and SMEs.
