According to the latest monthly bulletin issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), there is a substantial increase in the percentage of total hotel revenues among 3-5 star establishments until the end of November 2023, when compared to the same period in 2022. This boost in revenue serves as a promising indicator of growing interest in the country as a travel destination.
The most notable figure in this report is the staggering number of guests that have flocked to 3-5 star hotels in Oman. Until the end of November 2023, a remarkable 1.9 million guests have chosen to experience the country's hospitality and cultural richness.
Analysing the breakdown of guests by nationality provides further insights into the emerging trends and demographics of visitors to Oman. This substantial rise signifies a growing interest from local residents in exploring their own country's offerings, indicating the success of domestic tourism promotion initiatives.
Guests from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states also showed a tremendous surge, with a year-on-year increase of 27.9%. The total number of GCC visitors reached 185,671, indicating the strength of the regional market and the appeal of Oman's diverse attractions. Additionally, other Arab guests increased by an impressive 43.1%, Africans by 35.6%, Asians by 41.8%, Europeans by 47.1%, and Oceanians by a whopping 165.4%.
Revenue generation is another key aspect of the report, with a revenue increase of 26.6% in 3-5 star hotels. The total revenue reached a substantial RO 204.187 million by the end of November 2023. This impressive growth indicates not only the increased footfall in hotels but also the potential for investment and expansion in Oman's hospitality and tourism sector.
Furthermore, the survey examined the occupancy rates in 3-5 star hotels, which showed a rise from 44.1% in 2022 to 48.1% in 2023. This growth highlights the increasing demand for accommodations, underlining the positive trajectory of Oman's tourism sector.
