MUSCAT: Al Bashayer Club emerged triumphant against Dhofar with a resounding score of 106-36 at the subsidiary hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Baushar, as part of the second round of competitions in the general basketball league for the 2023-24 season.

Al Bashayer team demonstrated their prowess across all four quarters, ultimately temporarily claiming the top spot in the league standings with 19 points.

Key players, including Hadeed Beit Bukhait, Osama al Riyami, Damon, Adel al Battashi, Bassam al Busaidy, Ahmed al Jouri, and Nouh al Mahruqi, played crucial roles in achieving a significant result.

Al Bashayer started aggressively, advancing by 9 points through the synergy of their defence and offence, with Mahmoud al Souli, Damon, and a three-pointer from Osama al Riyami contributing to the score. Following this, Dhofar player, Mohammed al Battashi, scored two points with a shot from under the basket. Damon of Al Bashayer then returned to score 4 points with 2 shots from under the basket, leading his team 13-2. Al Bashayer continued to dominate the game, adding 17 points, while Dhofar added 6 points, resulting in Al Bashayer leading 30-8 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw no significant changes as Al Bashayer continued their offensive and defensive superiority, increasing their point tally. They began with Nouh al Mahruqi scoring two points, followed by a three-pointer from his teammate Hadeed Beit Bukhait, extending their lead to 35-8. Dhofar player, Ahmed Abu Hamar, responded with two points, but Al Bashayer continued their dominance, adding 33 points while Dhofar scored 10 points. The first half ended with Al Bashayer leading 68-18.

In the third quarter, Al Bashayer maintained their style of play, scoring more points and doubling their lead. Their players added 21 points, while Dhofar scored 14 points, resulting in Al Bashayer leading 89-33 at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter witnessed Al Bashayer’s continued offensive and defensive advantage, with their players scoring 17 points. Meanwhile, Dhofar scored 4 points, concluding the match with Al Bashayer winning against Dhofar with a score of 106-36.

The international referee Ahmed al Balushi officiated as the first referee, while the international referees Rashid al Mashifri and Wafa al Samri served as the second and third referees, respectively. The match officials at the table were Maryam al Zadjali, Mehdi al Alawi, and Fatima al Harthy.
