Singapore: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik visited on Thursday the Singapore Botanic Gardens. During the visit, a new orchid flower has been named after His Majesty, in a manifestation of Singaporean government and people’s pride over His Majesty's historic visit to the Republic.
His Majesty expressed his great appreciation for this kind gesture, which reflects the strength of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
Meanwhile, naming orchids after kings, presidents, leaders of states and senior officials in the National Orchid Garden in the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has been a tradition for more than 50 years.
