MUSCAT: The Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science announced the winners of the 31st edition of the Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition.

As many as 1,638 male and female contestants participated in the competition’s seven levels, as follows: Level 1 for memorizing the entire Holy Qur’an; Level 2 for memorizing 24 consecutive parts of the Holy Qur’an; Level 3 for memorizing 18 consecutive parts; Level 4 for memorizing 12 consecutive parts (on condition that the competitor was born in 1998 or afterwards); level 5 for memorizing 6 consecutive parts (for those born in 2009 and afterwards); Level 6 memorizing 4 consecutive parts (for those born in 2013 or afterwards) and Level 7 for memorizing 2 consecutive parts (for those born in 2016 or afterwards).



During the award ceremony, whose date will be announced later, the top three winners from each level of the competition will be felicitated, while incentive prizes will be dedicated to top three finishers from each level other than the top three.

The winners were announced by Habib bin Mohammed al Riyami, Chairman, Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science held at a press conference held at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque on Sunday.

Saeed bin Abdullah al Habsi from Al Khuwair Centre won the first place of the first level (memorizing the entire Holy Quran).

Moath bin Said al Dhuwayani from the Barka Centre won the first place in the second level (memorizing 24 consecutive parts of the Holy Quran).

Shihab bin Ahmed al Shuhi from Khasab Centre won first place in the third level (memorizing 18 consecutive parts of the Holy Quran).

Nima bint Saleh al Kindiyah from Nizwa Centre won the first place in the fourth level (memorizing 12 consecutive parts of the Holy Quran).

Fatima bint Mohammad al Dukhriyah from the Ibra Centre won the first place in the fifth level (memorizing 6 consecutive parts of the Holy Quran.

Dana bint Faisal al Saadiyah from Al Suwaiq Centre won the first place in sixth level (memorizing 4 consecutive parts of the Holy Quran).

Zakaria bin Abdullah al Badaei from Al Suwaiq Centre won the first place in the seventh level (memorizing two consecutive parts of the Holy Quran).
