Muscat - President Dr. Alain Berset of the Swiss Confederation and his spouse visited the National Museum today, within the framework of their official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

They were greeted upon arrival at the museum by Jamal Hassan Al Mosawi, Secretary General of the National Museum.

At the outset of the visit, the Swiss President and his spouse viewed designs of some museum projects carried out by a team of Swiss architects and designers at Al Saidiya School, as well as the historical houses administered by the National Museum (Bayt Sayyid Nadir bin Faisal and Bayt Sayyida Muzna bint Nadir). These projects coincide with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Omani-Swiss diplomatic relations.

They also took note a number of objects representing the most prominent Omani sites included in the World Heritage List (UNESCO) in the Hall of Pre-History and Antiquity.

The guests also toured the corner of late Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour (the Dearest and Finest of Men) and viewed the original letter No. 1 (Letter of Will) addressed by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said to the Royal Family Council through the Defense Council.

President Dr. Alain Berset of the Swiss Confederation signed the Museum's senior visitors' register, in which he expressed his admiration over the collections of the National Museum that reflect the history and culture of the Sultanate of Oman.

The Swiss President and his spouse were accompanied during the visit by Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health (Head of the Mission of Honour), Dr. Madeeha Ahmed Al Shibani, Minister of Education and a number of officials.
