HM holds official reception for German President

Visit to explore areas of joint cooperation

 
MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received President Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier of the Federal Republic of Germany, who began an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

The German President was accorded an official reception ceremony today.

Later, Majesty the Sultan and the President of the Federal Republic of Germany held a round of official talks.









Official Reception

Upon the arrival of the motorcade of the German President at Al Alam Palace's external courtyard, a squadron of cavalry lined the two sides of the road to the gate of the palace, welcoming the guest.

Then, the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO) band played a welcoming tune, to the accompaniment of trumpets, as the motorcade entered the internal courtyard of Al Alam Palace.

After that, His Majesty the Sultan accompanied the German President to the Dais of Honour where the national anthem of Germany was played, while the artillery fired a 21-gun salute for the guest.

Then, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanying the President of Germany, wishing them a pleasant stay.

In his turn, the guest shook hands with some members of the Royal Family, Chairmen of the State Council and Shura Council, ministers, commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).

After that, His Majesty the Sultan and the guest proceeded to the hall where they had coffee.

The President of Germany is accompanied by an official delegation comprising Dr. Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the Foreign Ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dirk Lölke, Ambassador of Germany to Oman, Wolfgang Silbermann, Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Office of the Federal President and a number of German officials.







Arrival on Monday



President Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier of the Federal Republic of Germany and his spouse arrived in Muscat on Monday on an official three-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, led the welcoming party for the German President and his accompanying delegation upon their arrival at the Royal Airport.

The German President was also received by Eng Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (Head of the Mission of Honour), Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (Minister accompanying the guest’s spouse), Maitha bint Saif al Mahrouqiyah, Ambassador of Oman to Germany, Dirk Lölke, Ambassador of Germany to Oman, and members of the German Embassy in Muscat.

The visit will explore the joint areas of cooperation that serve the two countries’ interests and aspirations. It will also discuss the current regional issues.
