MUSCAT: Mohsen bin Hamad al Hadhrami, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM), recently led a team of officials on a tour of key energy projects managed by OQ, the global integrated energy group, in Musandam Governorate.
The tour included a close look at oil facilities and plants in the governorate, where Al-Hadhrami received detailed briefings on production rates, future investment prospects, and the developmental stages of these vital projects in the coming years.
During the visit, OQ’s officials elucidated the group's pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency to boost production while minimizing operational costs. They also presented the outcomes of feasibility studies conducted for various projects aimed at maximizing the economic value of governmental assets.
Al Hadhrami also reviewed the social investment projects supported by OQ in the wilayats of the governorate. Discussions revolved around the significance of these projects, their progress, and collaborative efforts with governmental authorities. These initiatives underline OQ’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, fostering job opportunities, and collaborating with major entities to drive social and economic development.
Notably, the social investment projects contribute to the enrichment of service and tourism sectors in the governorate, showcasing cultural, environmental, and tourism aspects. They stand as integral components of OQ’s comprehensive social investment program.
Dr Ibrahim al Saleh, Executive Director of Musandam Oil and Gas Company, remarked, “Since January 2019, OQ has successfully initiated oil and gas production operations at Block 8 in Musandam Governorate, achieving a smooth transition and maintaining production levels above expectations. Our ongoing development plan for offshore fields is set to increase production, with completion anticipated by the third quarter of 2024.
Further production and development programs for Block 8 are in preparation, with details expected to be unveiled next year, aiming to enhance production and ensure a continuous gas supply to the Musandam Power Station for uninterrupted electricity delivery to the governorate.”
