25,000 new 5G broadband connections in Oman: TRA

Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has published the half-yearly report (January - June 2023), which indicated that 5G fixed broadband subscriptions
is now 25,000 with the total number of 5G stations going up to 4,566.
The growth rate in mobile phone subscriptions reached 4 percent in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, achieving a penetration rate of 142 percent of the total population, with more than seven million subscriptions.
The growth rate of mobile broadband subscriptions reached 5 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, achieving a penetration rate of 120 percent of the total population, with more than 5, 900,000.
The percentage of fixed 5G subscriptions is 36 percent of the total 540,284 fixed broadband subscriptions.
It is worth noting that 52 percent of fixed broadband subscriptions are from the Governorate of Muscat, while the Governorates of Musandam, Al Wusta, and South al Sharqiyah have the lowest number of active subscriptions.
