Mwasalat reports jump in bus passengers

Muscat: The Public Transport Company, Mwasalat, has that its buses ferried 3,145,545 passengers by Q3, 2023, compared to 2.1 million passengers during the same period in 2022.
More than 11,500 passengers traveled in these buses daily.
It added that 177,973 used ferry services during the same period, compared to 163,700 in 2022. 652 passengers used ferries daily.
The number of cargo shipped through buses is 18,000 tonnes while 45,600 vehicles were transported through ferries.
The Omanisation percentage at the company is 93 and it may be noted that Omanis traveling in buses is 34.98% and 80.68% in ferries.
Female passengers constitute 12.73% of total travelers in buses and 21.34% in ferries.
Mwasalat recently resumed an international service to Abu Dhabi from October 1. The service operates via Buraimi and Al Ain in the UAE.
