Dhofar, Al Wusta brace for cyclone Tej

 
Salalah: To determine the readiness and efficiency of protection dams to confront the tropical situation Tej; His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, the Governor of Dhofar, inspected the flood protection dams in Salalah and some public facilities, accompanied by the officials of the relevant government agencies and the municipal council in the governorate.

Dhofar Municpality confirmed its readiness to deal with the tropical situation and to receive reports regarding municipal services in the states ‬⁩ through the communications center. The number to dial during emergency is 1771.

List of shelter centers ready to receive citizens and residents in Dhofar and Al Wusta Governorates during the tropical situation has been released. Arrangements have been made for citizens and expatriates in various schools.

Dhofar Municpality has issued ‘Guidelines and Instructions Preventive measures’ when it rains.
  1. Follow-up weather bulletins when alerts or warnings are received from the National Center for Early Warning of Multiple Hazards about the possibility of heavy rains or torrents.
  2. Keep away while grazing livestock from the wadis, their edges or near dams
  3. Stay away from low places or wadis.
  4. Take precautionary measures when passing from sites close to mountains or mountain roads (obstacles) as much as possible as there could be possibility of falling rocks
  5. Stay away from lighting poles and electricity centers during rain.
