Oman to compete in World Karate Championship

MUSCAT: The Oman karate national team is gearing up for a remarkable participation in the World Karate Championship 2023, set to take place in Budapest, Hungary, from October 24 to 29. The event will witness the best of karate talent from around the world, and Oman's team is set to make its mark.
The Oman Karate Committee has assembled a dedicated delegation for this event, led by the Omani Karate Committee Chairman Salem bin Hamad al Mahrouqi. The team includes prominent players in the sport, with Said bin Ali al Shabibi competing in the under 67 kg category and Idris bin Ali al Batrani in the under 60 kg category. They are being meticulously trained and guided by the team's coach, Ali bin Said al Shabibi, and officiated by the internationally acclaimed referee, Hilal bin Mohammed al Abdali.
Oman's national karate team is not new to the limelight, having recently demonstrated their prowess in the West Asian Championship held in Sharjah in 2022. During that event, the team showcased their exceptional skills and secured one gold medal, along with five bronze medals.
