Chery announces major investment in Middle East, expands to Oman

WUHU, CHINA: Chery, one of China's leading automotive manufacturers, has revealed its ambitious plans to invest heavily in the Middle East market. The company aims to strengthen its presence in the region by establishing a central warehouse and expanding its operations in Oman.

In an interview with Observer, Guibing Zhang, President of Chery International, said these plans reflect Chery’s commitment to understanding customer needs and delivering high-quality vehicles that prioritise family, safety and sustainability. “By establishing a central warehouse in the Middle East, we can easily cater to the needs of our customers quickly and efficiently, especially in replacing car spare parts. The central warehouse may be established in any of the countries in the region.” Recognising the growing demand for intelligent vehicles, Chery also plans to make its cars more technologically advanced. By integrating cutting-edge technologies, “Chery aims to enhance the overall driving experience and provide Middle East customers with a seamless blend of convenience and safety features,” Zhang added.

The expansion of Chery's operations in the Middle East, including the establishment of a central warehouse and its imminent entry into the Omani market, Xiantian Shen, Chery International General Manager for the Middle East, said these strategies echo the company's dedication to meeting the growing demand for high-quality vehicles in the region. “The cars we will produce for the Middle East are safer, smarter and more reliable according to the demands and needs of the region. We will also push for the adoption of new energy vehicles (NEV), promoting the use of clean and efficient transportation solutions.” As for the launch in Oman, Shen said, “It can happen anytime soon, within the next few months.” The Sultanate of Oman is the 3rd largest market of Chery cars in the GCC region, after Saudi Arabia and UAE. Last month, Chery signed a distribution agreement with Oman’s renowned corporate Saud Bahwan Group. By establishing a partnership, Chery will not only expand its overseas sales network but also promote localised operations with the help of Saud Bahwan’s experience. Chery is set to launch Tiggo series and Arrizo series in Oman.

In addition to its business objectives, Chery is also committed to environmental sustainability. The company acknowledges the importance of reducing pollution and plans to actively contribute to this cause. Chery is pushing for the adoption of new energy vehicles in the Middle East, including hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), battery electric vehicle (BEV) and range extender electric vehicle (REEV) setups and the OQ Ice EV cars.
