Third national camel race concludes today

 
Muscat: More than 1,800 camels competed in the third race of the 21th edition of national camel event at Al Bashayer Camel Racing Track in Adam and in Royal Camel Crops (RCC) Track in Barka.

The race is organised by Oman Camel Racing Federation from October 10 to 12, with wide participants from various governorates, competing in 88 races divided into three days. Eighteen races were held on the first day for Hagayeg category for 3 km. Twelve races were held on the second day for Lagaya for 4 km, in addition to two 2 km races for human riders. Twelve races are scheduled for the third day, 6 races for Al Yethaa category for 5 km, 3 races for Thanayaa category for 6 km and 3 races for Al Hool category for 6 km.

At Barka track on Wednesday, ‘Shorot’ and ‘Zeyarah’, owned by Amer bin Salim al Zaree, snatched the two opening titles in human rider races.

‘Al Shaheanyah’, owned by Saud bin Salim al Manee, emerged winner in first 6 km race, the second race was won by ‘Al Aalamyah’, owned by Hamed bin Mohammed al Wahibi, the third race was won by ‘Al Wadeh’, owned by Hamood bin Abdullah al Moharbi and the fourth race was won by ‘Jalmodah’ owned by Mohsin bin Ali al Wahibi.

‘Khazamah’ claimed the fifth race, owned by Humaid bin Hamed al Zaree, ‘Mohatem’ finished first in sixth race, owned by Salim bin Al Beed al Wahibi, the seventh race was won by ‘Al Shaheanyah’, owned by Hamood bin Hamed al Wahibi. ‘Khayal, owned by Abdullah bin Sultan al Ghufali, snatched the eighth round, ‘Nassee’, owned by Waleed bin Sulaiman al Rushaidi, claimed the ninth round, 10th race was won by ‘AlHaylah’, owned by Naseer bin Salim al Masoodi, the 11th race was claimed by ‘Al Gathabah’, owned by Bader bin Saud al Moonsi and finally ‘Al Shamhek’, owned by Hamed bin Gedayer al Gedali, finished first in the 12th round.

On Wednesday competitions in Al Bashayer field, ‘Shaqrah’ grabbed the 6 km race, owned by Hatim bin Said al Gahafi, the second race was won by ‘Ertwaz, owned by Bader bin Hamed al Jenaibi, the third winner was ‘Al Baz’ owned by Mohammed bin Al Abed al Harsoosi and the fourth race was won by ‘Romyah’ owned by Saleh bin Ali al Wahibi. ‘Nothaa’ claimed the fifth race, owned by Hamed bin Musalam al Ghafo, ‘Al Fares’ finished first in sixth race, owned by Said bin Mubark al Amri, the seventh race was won by ‘Zahyah’, owned by Humaid bin Mohammed al Jenaibi. ‘Musyha, owned by Mohammed bin Shutayet al Habsi, snatched the eighth round, ‘Shaheen’, owned by Nasser bin Al Abed al Harsosi, claimed the ninth round, 10th race was won by ‘Ramez’, owned by Al Hamdi bin Salim al Daree, the 11th race was claimed by ‘Melan’, owned by Khalifa bin Hoeden al Mahri and finally ‘Mukhaseem’, owned by Said bin Ali al Malki, claimed the honours in the last round.

The top ten winners in all races (88 rounds) will get cash prizes.

The fourth national race will be held from October 31 to November 2 at Al Bashayer Camel Racing Track in Adam and in Royal Camel Crops (RCC) Field in Barka.
