Duqm: The future of green industries, developing trends in the renewable energy sector, and the most significant projects being carried out in the region in this sector will be covered at the Duqm Economic Forum (DEF), which will take place on October 16 and 17, 2023 in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD).

As many as 300 experts, professionals, and officials from the public and commercial sectors are expected to attend the forum, which is organized by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) in cooperation with governmental organizations and private sector businesses.

The forum is part of ongoing initiatives to support the Sultanate of Oman's strategy to develop the green economy and renewable energy sectors.

SEZAD presents exciting chances for businesses involved in green supply chains.



Currently, SEZAD is implementing a number of green, renewable energy, and green hydrogen initiatives. Duqm is a renowned spot for attracting green industry and renewable energy projects due to the incentives offered by OPAZ to attract investments and offer opportunities for growth and the solar, wind, and logistic capabilities that make it easier to export green energy and green hydrogen products.

The Duqm Economic Forum is the first event of its type to be organized in the SEZAD to highlight the prospects and strategies for advancing green industry.

Working papers on the benefits of green energy in Duqm, the potential of Duqm in the field of generating electricity from renewable sources, the rising demand for green energy in light of global urban and population growth, and how to benefit from modern technologies to enhance the performance will be presented at the forum by experts and specialists from the Sultanate of Oman, the GCC, Japan, Belgium, China, India, Brazil, and several other countries.

The event also covers technological developments in the petrochemical and refinery sectors and how they contribute to the production of several crucial parts of the renewable energy system, including solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries. The discussions will also cover the necessity for these products globally and Duqm's potential to attract these sectors.

In addition, the forum will discuss the significant investments made in Ras Markaz crude oil storage station and Duqm refinery, as well as the opportunity these developments bring for petrochemical companies looking to tap into the expanding markets linked to the switch to clean energy and modern technologies.

Moreover, the forum also emphasizes the Port of Duqm's ability to spur investments in the green industries sector, as well as the advantageous opportunities for shipping, transportation, and maritime businesses in the SEZAD.
