New fertility centre to come up in Muscat soon

MUSCAT: A new fertility centre will be opened at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Complex in Al Wattayah at the beginning of next October, besides the Directorate- General of Women and Children will be set up as part of the new structure of the Ministry of Health.
This was disclosed by Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health at a media briefing held at Avana hotel in Seeb. He added that the Ministry of Health seeks to build more bridges of trust between society and the health sector, develop the health care system at all levels, and redefine some concepts in line with the provision of the best and high-quality health care services that enhance citizen health. He said that the regulations of the Public Health Law are ready and will be referred to the competent authorities for discussion.
The Ministry of Health has adopted several initiatives to address the challenges facing the health sector including reducing appointments. In this regard, the ministry is carrying out a programme of visits by medical teams from referral hospitals in Muscat to perform surgical operations in the governorates. This is in addition to initiatives and partnerships between government health institutions outside the Ministry of Health hospitals and private hospitals to perform operations or to benefit from medical staff, the minister said.
