Two arrested in connection with murder of Omani citizen in Cairo

 
Muscat: Egyptian authorities have apprehended two individuals in connection with the murder of the former Omani diplomat, Hood bin Saif Al Alawi.

According to Egyptian police, a cleaning lady and a driver, both of whom had previously been employed by Hood Al Alawi, have been arrested for their involvement in his murder. The suspects are reported to have confessed to the Public Prosecution that they fatally stabbed him, with the primary motive being theft. They allegedly intended to steal money, mobile phones, and watches from him. Identity of the perpetrators was revealed in a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Interior on its website on Tuesday.

During the investigation, authorities successfully recovered the stolen valuables and seized the money that had been in the possession of the victim. Appropriate legal measures have been taken against the accused individuals.

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the Arab Republic of Egypt on Tuesday thanked the Egyptian security authorities for their quick action and apprehending culprits. The embassy extended condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased.

Hood Al Alawi was found murdered at his apartment in Cairo on Sunday.
