Plans for private investment in Al-Safalah Castle

A study is being conducted to explore the possibility of making Al-Safalah Castle, which serves as the symbol of Wadi Al Maawal Governorate, available for investment.

Saud Saeed al Maawali, the Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Council in the South al Batinah Governorate and the representative of Wadi Al Maawal Governorate has indicated that there is ongoing coordination with relevant authorities to secure the necessary approvals for offering the castle as an investment opportunity.

The objective is to transform these historical landmarks into a central hub for local investments, creating a dynamic sector that attracts a variety of activities, events, and tourists

from both within and outside the Sultanate of Oman.

Al Safalah Castle has previously undergone restoration by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.

Al Maawali also mentioned that the Wadi Al Maawal Governorate is home to numerous historical sites, with the most notable ones being Al-Safalah Castle, Haret Hujrat Al Sheikh, Bait Al Khandaq, Haret Hujrat Muslimat, Bait Al Khelaiw in Habra, the Grand House, and several towers and castles in Al Lajal.

Additionally, there are archaeological sites in the villages of Wadi Mastal, which are under the jurisdiction of the Wadi Al Maawal Governorate.
