753,952 voters registered for Shura elections

 
MUSCAT: The Ministry of Interior announced the initial voter lists of the Majlis Ash’shura elections through Intakhib app and the official election website.

Registered voters totaled 753,952 including 362,924 women.

The number of newly-registered voters stands at 139,963.

The highest number of voters was registered in North Al Batinah Governorate with 153,809 making up 18,5 per cent of registered voters.

The Ministry of Interior explained complaints against the published voter lists can be filed through the election website within five days from the date of publication. The application should contain reason for objection with the supporting documents attached to it.

Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidy, Minister of Interior, issued the executive regulations for Majlis Ash’shura election law. As per the executive regulations, the main election committee should be formed with a maximum of 12 members. The complaints committee should comprise 5 members and the voting committee 6 members nominated by the chairman of the main election committee in coordination with the relevant authorities according to the requirements of the electoral process.
