MUSCAT: A global hydraulic fracturing conference began yesterday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat.
The “International Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference and Exhibition” is organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SAPE), with an endorsement from the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.
Under the theme “Fracturing—Growth Engine for Developing Global Oil and Gas Resource”, the three-day conference aims to explore the role hydraulic fracturing can play in the growth of the oil and gas industry.
Mohsin al Hadhrami, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, shared the following remarks during his keynote address, “This conference serves as an extended platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration and harnessing innovative solutions that will continue to propel hydraulic fracturing’s contributions to our world.
“The insights of leading experts, visionary researchers and industry trailblazers that they participated in the conference and who are charting the course for the future of hydraulic fracturing technologies will illuminate the strides we’ve made and the challenges we must surmount to ensure the responsible and sustainable development of our oil and gas resources.”
The first day of the conference included an executive plenary session, hosting more than six high level executives from prominent oil and gas corporations.
It also featured many panel sessions and marked the official launch of the accompanying exhibition, which showcased over 20 industry exhibitors.
Conference Chair and Petroleum Engineering Function Director at Petroleum Development Oman, Sultan al Shidhani, highlighted the importance of the conference, “This is a reflection of the increasingly deployed hydraulic fracturing technologies and applications for enhancing productivity and improving accessibility to more difficult hydrocarbon resources.”
