For the first time for the Iranians living in the country, a social club dedicated to their socio-cultural activities can be opened in the Sultanate of Oman as the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) has cleared their request for the same.
Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najar, Minister of Social Development, issued a ministerial decision announcing the 'Social Club for the Iranian Community' which further states that this is to commemorate the members of the Iranian Islamic Republic community residing in the Sultanate of Oman through various social, cultural and sporting events.
Ali Najafi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Muscat thanked the ministerial decision calling it as 'historic' which enables to strengthen the bilateral bonds'.
'While we congratulate the establishment of the Iranian Social Club and thank the officials of the Sultanate of Oman, we believe that this measure provides an opportunity and an appropriate structure for Iranians residing in this friendly and brotherly country to strengthen bilateral ties. We are confident that enhancing friendship between the two countries within the framework of the goals binds the two friendly countries,' he added.
As per the MoSD norms of 'community clubs', they are social institutions with continuous organisation of people comprising several natural, non-Omani persons, whose purpose is to care for their members in the social, cultural and recreational fields with the aim of strengthening the bonds of friendship and love between members of the same community. Additionally, they should carry out their activities in accordance with the conditions and controls approved by the Ministry of Social Development.
Every country with a specified number of people as subjects in the country can request for a club or association and can submit necessary papers for the approval of the ministry which will, after careful scrutiny and verification, proceed with its approval or acknowledge the parties if the same is not approved.
