SALALAH, SEPT 6
A local Omani company has been winning plaudits from both government officials and private citizenry for embedding sustainability and circularity in its commercial operations.
Al Jabal Fertiliser specialises in harvesting organic waste from livestock farms across Dhofar to produce organic fertilizer that enjoys strong demand across the governorate and beyond.
Established in 2003, the Dhofar based facility collects manure from livestock owners in the governorate and lets it ferment with water for at least 60 days. It is then covered with plastic to kill seeds, bacteria, and weeds, before is crushed and turned into seed fertilizer. The fertiliser is then filtered to remove stones and impurities. Finally, it is heat-treated to eliminate weeds, seeds, and other harmful substances. The fertilizer is then packaged in plastic bags to maintain its quality.
Hamed Ahmed Jaaboub (pictured), General Manager of the factory, said: 'We are proud to be a leading producer of organic fertiliser in Oman. We are committed to providing our customers with high-quality fertilizer that will help them improve the quality of their soil and produce healthier crops. We are also committed to sustainable development and use environmentally friendly practices.' Al Jabal Fertiliser receives an estimated 6,000 tonnes of cow manure from local farmers annually, in addition to poultry and fish waste. Its final product is used by farmers in Oman to improve the quality of their soil and to produce healthier crops. The factory also exports its fertilizer to other countries in the region.
Al Jabal Fertiliser Factory uses modern technology and strict quality control measures to ensure that its fertilizer meets the highest standards. The factory is also committed to sustainable development and uses environmentally friendly practices. A number of local Omanis are employed at the facility as well.
