Al Nahda go top of OL with second win

 
MUSCAT, SEPT 1

Defending champions Al Nahda Club secured their second consecutive victory in the Omantel League, defeating Ibri Club 3-1 at Al Buraimi Complex Stadium to take the top spot in the league after the third round matches on Thursday night.

Al Nahda Club exhibited championship-level performance by scoring two goals within the first 20 minutes, courtesy of Salah al Yahyaei and Essam al Sobhi. Ibri Club managed to pull one back with a powerful strike from professional Augusti Malo. However, Salah al Yahyaei added a third goal for Al Nahda, concluding the first half with a 3-1 lead.

The second half remained goalless, sealing the win for Al Nahda.

This victory propels Al Nahda's tally to 7 points from two wins and a draw, while Ibri's count remains at 3 points, with one win and two losses. Al Nahda are now leading the table with a better goal difference compared to Sohar who also have the same points.

SEEB BLANK OMAN CLUB

At the Seeb Sports Stadium, Seeb defeated Oman 2-0 for their second straight win.

Abdulaziz al Muqbali opened the scoring for Seeb in the 37th minute, with Omar al Fazari adding a second goal in the 90th +5th minutes.

With this win, Seeb maintains a perfect record this season, boasting 6 points from two matches. In contrast, Oman Club stand at 3 points with one win and two losses. Seeb are the only team in the league yet to drop any points.

AL WAHDA, SUR IN 3-3 DRAW

In a roller-coaster match at Sur Complex Stadium, Al Wahda and Sur battled to a 3-3 draw.

The first half favoured Al Wahda, who secured a 2-0 lead with goals from Perry Francis and Walid al Saadi in the 10th and 33rd minutes, respectively. Sur Club turned the tables in the second half, scoring three consecutive goals, initiated by Roy Yoani in the 72nd minute. Ayman Ibrahim added the second goal, and Roy Yoani netted the third in the fifth minute of the additional time.

Al Wahda managed a late comeback, equalising through Perry Francis in the eighth minute of the added time.

This result takes Sur's total to 5 points from a win and two draws, while Al Wahda secured their first point after two consecutive defeats.

10-MAN AL NASR HOLD AL SHABAB

Al Shabab and Al Nasr played to an intense 0-0 draw at Al Saada Sports Complex on Thursday.

The first half saw both teams locked in a goalless stalemate, displaying equal prowess. Despite a numerical disadvantage after Musab al Maamari's 54th-minute red card, Al Nasr put up a valiant effort.

Al Shabab's Abdul Rahman al Ghassani missed a penalty kick, thwarted by Al Nasr goalkeeper Hassan al Buraiki. The game ended with both sides unable to break the deadlock.

The result means Al Nasr secured their first point after two consecutive losses, while Al Shabab now boast two points from two draws and one defeat, currently occupying the 10th position in the Omani league table. Al Nasr follow closely in 11th place.
