Royal Cavalry win 120km race in Slovakia

Al Fairouz launches Tent Pegging World Cup trophy in South Africa

 
MUSCAT: The Royal Cavalry of Oman has won the first place in the two-star Samorin Slovakian endurance race, which was organised by the International Equestrian Federation for a distance of 120 km.

Seven countries took part in the race including the Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Germany, Italy, Norway and Poland.

The race was containing 4 stages, the first stage was for 40 km, while the second stage was for 30 km, the third stage was 25 km and the fourth and final stage was for 25 km.

After high competition during all race stages, Saleh bin Salem al Balushi won the first place on the horseback of 'Salam' owned by Royal Cavalry Oman, the second place was claimed by Abdullah al Shamsi from UAE and the Italian jockey Patriza finished third.

On the other hand, Oman national tent pegging team will take part in the fourth edition of the Tent Pegging World Cup in South Africa, organised by the International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF), from August 23 to 26.

Oman team will compete along with Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Yemen, South Africa, Egypt, India, Pakistan and Norway.

Mohammed bin Issa al Fairouz, ITPF President, handed over the 2023 World Cup to the Organising Committee, in the presence of Haitham bin Mohammed bin Jawad al Lawati, ITPF Secretary-General.

Al Fayrouz confirmed that “all preparations have been completed to launch fourth edition, after the Sultanate of Oman hosted the first edition, Egypt hosted the second, and the UAE hosted the third tournament.”



Oman tent pegging team arrived in South Africa to compete in the World Cup 2023. The national team is led by head coach Mansour bin Ali al Mahrouqi. The Oman delegation is headed by Hammoud bin Salem al Riyami, and Hilal bin Hassan al Balushi is the team manager. The team is represented by Hamad bin Nasser al Riyami, Safwan bin Zaid al Maamari, Hamad bin Saif al Raisi, Waleed bin Zahir al Shuraiqi and Ahed bin Khamis al Balushi.

On the sidelines of the tournament, training courses will be held for referees, coaches and veterinarians, organised by the ITPF. Mohammed al Fairouz, ITPF President, inaugurated the training courses.

More than 30 participants from different countries will participate in the training programme, led by Brandon Mayo, Mansour al Mahrouqi, Moftah al Harassi and Raafat Abdelrahman Bella.

Recently, HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, issued a ministerial decision to reconfigure the Board of Directors of the Oman Equestrian Federation for the next four years 2023/2027.

Sayyid Munther bin Saif al Busaidy was selected as the chairman, Abdul Razzaq bin Abdulqadir al Shahwarzi as vice-chairman, Hamoud bin Ali al Naseri as secretary, Issa bin Abdulkhaleq al Maimani as treasurer. The board members included Sayyid Saud bin Harib al Said, Salem bin Saad Bahwan al Mukhaini, Taher bin Saud al Khalili, Dhabya bint Sami al Busaidiyah and Al Muhannad bin Saeed al Hashar.
