Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has released the details of the timetable to start implementing the decision to compel taxi owners to join the applications licensed by the ministry through three-time stages.
The ministry stated that the first phase of the program begins on October 1, which includes taxi drivers operating at the airports of the Sultanate of Oman, while the second phase will cover tourist complexes, hotels, commercial centers, and ports beginning from November 1.
The third phase will cover White and Orange street taxis from January 1.
The ministry stated that it will, during the coming period, invite owners of applications licensed for taxi activity to apply for an additional license to practice the activity according to the target groups in the program.
The program is based on the Land Transport Law and its executive regulations for the benefit of taxi owners through the technologies available in the applications and the system that allows the user to track and monitor the route while ensuring his privacy and security.
