19 teams compete at School Beach Games 2023 in Salalah

MUSCAT: The Oman School Sports Association (OSSA) unveiled the details of the second School Beach Games 2023 tournament on Saturday. The School Beach Games will be held on the sand courts at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex in Salalah from August 13 to 17.
In beach handball, nine teams were divided into two groups -- five teams in the first group and four teams in the second group. In beach volleyball, 10 teams were divided into two groups of five teams each.
The 10 teams will start action in the first round of beach volleyball with six matches. A total of 12 matches will be in the first round with another six in the beach handball also.
The group stage will continue on Monday and Tuesday with 36 matches, while 16 matches for handball and 20 matches for volleyball.
All the participating teams arrived in Salalah on Saturday, and settled in the accommodation facility specified by the organising committee.
Yousef Beit Selim, member of the Board of Directors of the Oman School Sports Association and head of the Games, said: “The second edition of the tournament witnessed participation from all educational directorates. And this tournament aims to discover and hone the talents of students in beach volleyball and beach handball to represent the Oman team internationally. The tournament expects strong and exciting matches between the teams.”
