The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has requested manpower recruitment offices to adhere to the terms and conditions regulating the provision of service, agreed upon between them and consumers and to function in accordance with the rules and regulations stipulated in the Oman Labour Law.
Speaking to the Observer, an official in the CPA said that these offices should be able to deliver what has been promised in the agreement between them and their clients.
'Labour supply or manpower supply companies should comply with the terms and conditions agreed upon by both parties and are liable to make good any loss suffered by the clients in the usual course of the agreement,' he said.
His statement comes in the wake of the recent closure and a fine against a manpower recruitment office in the Al Batinah North Governorate upon failure to fulfilling the terms mentioned in the agreement.
The CPA obtained a court ruling from the Sohar Primary Court convicting the labour recruitment office for not complying with providing the service properly.
The Directorate General of Consumer Protection further said that agencies can operate only with a valid licence. Violation of it will amount a case of human trafficking.
