Members of several NGOs turned up responding to the call of Oman Blood Bank and conducted blood donation campaigns to support the need for blood units over the last weekend.
Hope, an organisation which was formed to render blood units to the department of blood services organised a day long blood donation campaign in association with the Bausher Blood Bank over the weekend.
As many as 31 donors were able to donate blood taking part in the campaign led by Said al Maawali, a senior phlebotomist from the blood bank.
'Hope' an NGO that was established some 8 years ago with the sole aim of helping people receive blood units as and when required for medical emergencies and for regular blood transfusions, has besides 22 chapters in India, in all GCC countries except Bahrain which will be soon launched, according to Nassr Mash Ayanchery, one who spearheads the blood donation move across borders.
'We are glad that many donors turned up on a weekend for a noble cause and every single person can bring in smile to someone whom they may or may not know,' he said.
An exclusive group for those who posses rare groups such as Negative groups, a ladies only blood donors group, and a group for platelet donors are currently in action under the 'Hope', detailed Oman wing coordinators, Musthafa Kappad and Shameem Atholi.
