Oman team wins laurels in Spain

 
A team of young dancers from Oman made the Sultanate proud after winning the global dance open championship in Spain held in the city of Avila recenttly.

The team from Oman had nerve-wracking competition, held from July 19 to 22, with teams from the USA, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Gibraltar, Canary Islands, Newzealand, UAE, Qatar, Japan, and Germany.

The team of 69 people under Delicious Dance Academy (DDA), the dance destination, travelled to Spain out of which around 23 students participated in 3 categories and won 2 gold medals and one bronze medal, Zero degree gold score 97.5 in senior category, and gold score 86.5 in Sizzlers (junior category).

Shivika Bhatt, an aspiring dancer, bagged bronze score - 89.65 in solo senior category.

To add a cherry on the cake the Zero degree team received a cash prizes and bagged the second top scorer position overall group amongst more than 1000 entries across 35 countries.

DDA had attended the qualifying round of this competition in May in Qatar and got gold for all 3 with the toppest score in middle east zone with a winning score of 96.67.

'We are proud to have represented Oman and became the global champions in such a huge platform,' said Deepthi of DDA.

'We did expect to bring the category winner, but never excepted to be the over all champions and all our four months of hard work paid off. Indeed a proud moment for all of us,' she added.

Speaking to the Observer, Dr Shiby Siju, a parent and a dancer said she was thrilled to have represented the country of her choice, Oman and 'have made the nation proud of the team's laurels.'
