Omanis urged to enter Schengen-visa issuing country first

The Embassy of Oman in Berlin has warned all citizens that they need to enter the country that issued their Schengen visa first before travelling to any other destination in the bloc.

'Such a warning from the embassy was made to ensure that all Omani citizens are aware of the rules and do not face any inconveniences when travelling to the Schengen Area,' the embassy said.

SchengenVisaInfo.com said that if a citizen of Oman or of any other country that is subject to the visa requirements enters Germany as a first destination with a visa that another Schengen country has issued, the German authorities have the right to deny their entry.

The embassy called on everyone to make their first entry to the country that issued their Schengen visa and then travel to the other Schengen countries.

According to experts, if a traveller intends to visit multiple Schengen countries during a trip, he or she must apply for a visa from the embassy of the country, which is the primary destination. The primary destination for a Schengen visa is the Schengen country, where you will spend most of your time during the trip.

Travellers are urged to consider factors such as the length of stay in each Schengen country, the purpose of the trip, and the itinerary.

If it is not clear which Schengen country is the primary destination, it is advisable to apply at the embassy of the country that you will enter first when starting the trip, SchengenVisaInfo.com said.
