TRA to conduct early warning service trials next week

Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) will complete the pilot run of early warning service via mobile phones on Monday and Tuesday, which will be conducted in cooperation with the Civil Aviation Authority and telecommunications service providers in a number of wilayat and coastal areas of the North and South Al Batinah governorates.
The experiment will send warning messages of a specific emergency to Omantel and Ooredoo subscribers in record time, in accordance with international standards approved in this regard. Messages will be sent in 4 languages - Arabic, English, Hindi, and Urdu.
Sub-committees have been distributed in various regions to ensure the completion of the process and the arrival of warning messages that are scheduled to reach all subscribers of Omantel and Ooredoo.
TRA had earlier conducted trial runs in the governorates of Muscat, Al Sharqiyah South, Dhofar, and Musandam.
