Muscat: The starting of the Oman football season 2023-24 will be slow, especially the Omantel League, due the withdraws of big competitors in the last tournament, Al Suwaiq club and Al Musannah club, also for Sur club who did not obtain a license yet.
It is possible that the slow could be long because of the consultations in some clubs and in their boards of directors are still continuing after they sank in past seasons in debt and became unable to meet the demands of participation and the expenses of equipping the football team in technical and administrative level.
In addition to signing contracts with players in the lack of financial resources, which is the biggest and most common problem that face with the start of each season.
Therefore, the Oman Football Association was postponed the issuance of the football competitions schedules, which are supposed to start in mid of August, due to the apologies from Al Suwaiq and Al Musannah club.
The Football Association did not reveal the details of the postponed reasons in the statement that issued last week, which indicated that the working committees decided to wait in issuing the local competition schedules, coupled with details, conditions and rules, and contented temporarily with issuing the competition calendar.
It also seems that Seeb and Al Nahdha club are the only two teams that announced the readiness in order to participate in the Asian supplement, while the other clubs remained hesitant between participating and apologising due to the financial conditions that surround them, and they do not have the ability to venture and plunge the clubs into debt.
