Fatik claim the gold in high jump at Arabian Sports Games

MUSCAT: The Oman athletic player Fatik Abdulghafoor claimed the first gold medal for the Sultanate of Oman in the underway Arabian Sports Games in Algeria, during July 5 to 15.
Fatik managed to clinch the gold in the Men’s high jump competition, as he registered a jump with a mark of 2.16 meters. The silver medal went to Algerian Hi. Bouhanoune after he marked 2.13 meter, while his teammate Bilel Afer got the same mark and won the bronze medal.
The Omani Fatik Abdulghafoor had recently claimed the gold medal in high jump competition in the Arabian Athletics Championship in Marrakesh, as he registered a jump with a mark of 2.15 meters.
Oman’s star in Paralympics Qusai al Harrasi bagged the silver medal in the Men’s 100 meters in the T12/13 category, when he cleared the distance in a timing of 11 minutes and 83 seconds, while the gold medal clinched by Algerian Salah Khelaifia, the bronze medal was bagged by Algerian Djmail Nasser.
Post the podium ceremony, the athlete Fatik expressed his joy and said “ I am very pleased with this a new accomplishment, i managed to earn the first gold after tough competitions with top athletes from different Arabian countries. The previous attendance in the regional and international events helped me to develop my technical experience beside the domestic and abroad camps. My achievement in the Arabian Athletics Championship encouraged me to show much better in this event and I could manage to earn another gold medal. I am looking now for more accomplishments at the international levels in the near future,” he said
The Omani sprinters Barakat al Harthy and Ali al Balushi progressed into the finals of the men’s 100 meter competition. Barakat qualified from group one as runners up with a timing of 10.46 seconds while Ali moved to the finals as he registered 10.67 seconds in the second group.
