Fatal midnight accident claims life of tourist from Qatar in Salalah

Salalah: A midnight accident has claimed the life of a visitor from Qatar to Salalah and injured the co-passenger in his car.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Aflah, a 39-year-old expatriate working for a private firm in Doha. The injured individual, Misbah, is currently in the intensive care unit of Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah.
According to reports, the ill-fated car collided with a camel while crossing the road in Kitpit, approximately 80 kilometres away from Thumrait.
In a separate incident, a young person drowned in Wadi Darbat a day ago, seemingly trapped in the deep mud within the Wadi.
Officials have informed that the two bodies will be sent home after the necessary formalities are completed.
Speaking to the Observer, Najeeb Kanthapuram, a Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly who was in town for Eid celebrations, expressed his condolences for the accident victim and the drowning victim in Wadi Darbat. He also commended the efforts of the Royal Oman Police, the medical fraternity in Oman, and the socio-cultural activists in the country.
'The other two passengers, Mohammed Aftah and an eight-year-old named Mohammed Asil, are safe and received first aid before being sent to their relatives,' added the MLA.
PMA Gafoor, an acclaimed motivational speaker, CKV Yousuf, the former president of KMCC Oman, and Nasser Peringathoor, the Salalah president, are coordinating with the authorities to expedite the repatriation of the bodies.
