National athletes undergo Turkey training ahead of global events

 
Oman athletes will have a busy schedule in the coming days as they will take part in many crucial events including the 23rd edition of Arabian Athletics Championship in Marrakesh, Morocco, during June 20 to 24; Arabian Sports Games in Algeria during July 5 to 15; and Asian Athletics Championship for seniors in Pattaya, Thailand during July 12 to 16. The national athletes are undergoing training in Turkey under the watchful eyes of their head coaches. The Oman Athletics Association (OAA) represented by the national teams committee set a dedicated programme for the athletes to shape their technical readiness ahead of the forthcoming assignments.



Oman’s athletes had a stellar outing at the West Asian Athletics Championship in Qatar in May when they brought home eight medals including four gold, three silver and one bronze. The national athletes will eye on more medals in the upcoming international events. They are expected to compete in 100 meter race for men and women, 200 meter race for men and women, 4X100 meter relay, hammer throw, discus throw and javelin throw.



The ongoing camp in Antalya featured presence of many athletes including Oman’s star sprinter Barakat al Harthi, Oman’s fastest woman sprinter Mazoon al Alawi who attended in the last Olympic Games, sprinter Ali Anwar al Balushi, the youngest runner in the 800 meter event Mohammed al Suleimani, high jumper Fatik Abdul Ghafoor, long jumper Salim al Yarubi beside other athletes including Moahmmed al Saadi, Rashid al Asmi, Khalid al Ghilani, Mohammed al Mabsali, Ahmed al Saadi, Othman al Busaidi, Alaa al Zadjali and the hammer thrower including Mubeer al Kindi and Hajjan al Hajri.
