Detailed report on cyclone Biparjoy today

Muscat: A comprehensive report on the movements of cyclone Biparjoy and the predicted conditions for the following days (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) will be issued today by the Met Department.

Speaking to Oman Radio about the track of the cyclone, Abdullah bin Rashid al Khaduri, Director General, of Oman Meteorology, said the weather models have not precisely agreed on which direction the cyclone will move, adding that rough sea (3-5) meters are expected along the coastal strip from Al Wusta to South Al Sharqiya from Friday evening.

Fishermen are urged to fully take extreme precautions and not to venture into the sea.

“In the event of the cyclone approaching the Sultanate’s coasts, it is predicted that the direct impact will begin Sunday evening or early Monday and condition status-related alerts will be issued”, he added.

According to the weather forecaster, the tropical system is more likely to make landfall near the Omani coasts.

“The tropical system will be very close to the Sultanate’s coasts”, he stated.
