200 students to be trained in AI per year

Led by a team of local IT-savvy youngsters, Microsoft Oman displays an array of innovations in Artificial Intelligence, cloud, data and Amp to the visitors at the annual COMEX 2023, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre since May 22.

An array of industry-leading technological innovations, gadgets and ideas that highlight the critical role that Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays in the successful digital transformation journeys of governments and businesses is demonstrated at the COMEX 2023, which will end on Thursday.

'The Sultanate of Oman is setting up the necessary infrastructure to accelerate economic diversification and introduce a series of digital innovations across vital sectors,' said Al Hosni.



'AI is a defining technology of our time, and we are optimistic about what AI can do for industries and the society in the Sultanate. Microsoft has long been a trusted partner in digital change across the Sultanate of Oman. At this year's COMEX, we shall devote ourselves to helping delegates get ready for AI and make it work,' he added.

'Our focus on AI readiness will further strengthen best practices and ensure that all delegates can return to their organisations with value-adding knowledge. Microsoft's stand will feature five partners, including Netways, PWC, Cypher Learning, Noventiq, and IITC (International Information Technology Co.),' Al Hosni further said.

He said till date, Microsoft has trained 135,000, and more than 80,000 teachers and 600,000 students in Oman have access to Microsoft Education solutions. All students and teachers in Oman public schools have access to O365. With its partnership with Oman Technology Institute, Microsoft is aiming to skill students and graduates on Cloud and AI; while 200 students will be trained in Artificial Intelligence per year, 300 students to be certified yearly as part of a national programme with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

Microsoft has also launched, in collaboration with Oman Information Technology Society (OITS), the 'MaharaTec' initiative to upskill the nation's future leaders and talent, enhancing their capabilities in the field of communications and information technology.

'We signed an MoU with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in support of Oman's Digital Transformation efforts and in line with the Digital Competency Qualification Initiative (Makeen).'
