Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MOH) has launched self-service registration for expatriates, who have to undergo medical fitness examination while renewing their visa.
As per the details available, this service allows expatriates and companies to easily obtain the results of medical examinations to renew residency or obtain residency cards from service centers in civil affairs, and also while obtaining visas for the first time.
The system aims to increase transparency, reduce counterfeit reports, and save time and effort in issuing medical reports through electronic linkage with the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
It will allow the Directorate General of Disease Surveillance and Control to follow up, manage, and control the system, and obtain the necessary statistics from private sector hospitals and centers that provide medical examination services for expatriates.

As per the new system, an expatriate needs to have a PKI-enabled SIM card (available from the telecom operator) which needs to be activated and linked with the Resident card at the Sanad Office (one-time activity).
Once activated, the expatriate can avoid visiting the Sanad to register for the medical fitness examination as it can be done online, including payment for the service.
The rest of the procedures remain the same including getting the examination done at the medical center and returning to the Sanad or the company PRO for visa application.
