Muscat to get rain today: Weather Office

Muscat: Muscat Governorate could receive rain during late Monday afternoon, according to Oman Met Office.
Clouds continued to dominate the day by Monday afternoon as westerly disturbance upper trough brought in rainy cumulus cell formed on the coasts of North Al Batinah -on the Liwa Mountains.
Meanwhile the formation of local clouds over parts of the Hajar Mountains with strong chances of their expansion, had the possibility of it leading to thunderstorms later, said Oman Met Office.
Activity of local formations and thunderstorms in Al Hajar Mountains located in the North of Al Batinah, South of Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dakhiliyah, the Muscat Mountains, North Al Sharqiyah, and parts of South Al Sharqiyah extending to the coasts of the Sea of Oman
Cumulonimbus clouds form near the coast of Dhofar and on the mountains of Dhofar, with chances of rain later.
Earlier in the day cumulonimbus clouds flowed over the Musandam Governorate, resulting in scattered rain, while cumulus cell activity on the coasts of Sadah was also expected to lead to sporadic rain.
The alert for heavy rain continues until 10 pm.
The rainfall could range between 20 to 45 mm. Caution was urged as a downdraft wind is expected to be 30 to 60 kn and there are chances for flash floods.
