While the government is working hard to put Oman Vision 2040 into action, its marketing, and the great hopes this vision holds for the advancement of this country and its people for a better future, the biggest and most important change must be made by citizens in terms of adapting to global changes.
This can be accomplished by keeping up with global acceleration not only by states and governments, but also by individuals in all aspects of life and practice, so that citizens are not surprised one day when they are unable to keep up with what is going on around them and suffer from a variety of life difficulties.
The future is reliant not just on the Sultanate of Oman, but on the entire world. As a result, if these postulates affecting the lives of individuals and communities are not thoroughly understood, the future will be no better than the present.
As a result, one must be conscious of and cohabit with the aforementioned in all facets of one's life, which makes it incumbent upon us to be well prepared for this stage from now, and exert all possible effort so that we become an important part of the inevitable process of change, rather than obstructing it.
There is no doubt that efforts are being intensified across the country in all areas of development. These efforts are under continuous evaluation at all levels and are personally followed up by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
The most important of which is adapting to and keeping up with reality, rationing one's needs and requirements, rationalising one's consumption, and continuously developing one's capabilities so that one can keep up with rapid development on the one hand, and increase one's financial income on the other. We cannot witness tangible advancement in many areas without also seeing an improvement in the citizen.
One of the necessary changes that citizens must make nowadays is to be more effective and capable of making changes in one's personal life and family in response to the accelerating changes in contemporary life, such as the size of the family and the nature of current spending, and to reduce obligations to levels that meet decent life needs without exaggeration.
These key components require a comparable effort to raise awareness of these variables and their needs. It is also critical to educate citizens in order for them to grasp what is going on around them in reality and how to cope with it, as well as to bring about dramatic changes in citizens' thinking in the future by recognizing their needs and difficulties and how to deal with them.
Some individuals, of course, are aware of this stage and its future requirements, and they work accordingly. However, the majority of the people are still fantasising about the future, ignoring reality and what the future may hold for them. They are not even ready for the future requirements. This urgent matter must be addressed immediately.
We expect to see substantial changes in the citizen's mindset in the light of the improvements the world is witnessing, which affect his everyday existence and require a change in his life and diligent endeavours for tomorrow without seeking exaggerated or trivial demands. Thus, balance will be achieved in all these aspects, which is crucial at this stage of growth.
