Shura Council to host health minister on Sunday

 
MUSCAT: The Shura Council will host Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health to deliver his ministry’s statement at the council’s 13th ordinary meeting to be held next Sunday.

This was stated by Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council.

The statement will include four main axes dealing with the health sector in the Sultanate of Oman. The first axis is dedicated to comprehensive health coverage and includes the implemented projects and those that are expected to be established during the Tenth Five-year Plan (2021-2025) and, the development of emergency departments, ambulance services and the specialized clinics in the governorates, physiotherapy centres and the availability of services for chronic diseases in the governorates and other related issues. It deals with the quality of health services at the primary health institutions and the mechanisms of handling medical errors, complaints, long waiting time and the monitoring of private health institutions.

The first axis also deals with the management of health crises and emergencies including the current situation and the mechanism for future work, health infrastructure, financial and human requirements for combating health crises and the strategy and plans of the health sector to deal with health crises in the future.

The second axis statement is dedicated to health human resources and includes the ministry’s Omanization strategy and the provision of medical and technical jobs, qualifying and training medical and paramedical staffs and administrative cadres, Al Nadabi said.

The third axis is dedicated to the financing of the health system and includes the sustainability of financing the health system in order to achieve comprehensive health coverage and optimizing spending and improving partnership between the public and private health sectors. The fourth axis is dedicated to the digital transformation projects in the health sector, he concluded.
