SQU, Dhofar University ink two pacts in academic, training fields

Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and Dhofar University on Thursday signed two cooperation agreements to support the establishment of a college of medicine at Dhofar University, in addition to cooperation in a number of academic and training fields.
The first agreement provides for the formation of joint teams of experts from both sides, setting interim indicators and providing a 10-year support programme for the establishment of a college of medicine at Dhofar University.
The agreement also stipulates the development of basic plans, study plans, curricula, standard procedures, education and training programmes, a system for the assessment of students of the college scheduled to be set up, academic accreditation requirements and quality assurance for the Doctor of Medicine programme.
The second agreement provides for consolidating the exchange of experiences, quality assurance, active learning in educational curricula, exchanging visits and conducting a 3-year programme of joint activities on preparatory studies.
The two agreements were signed by HH Sayyid Dr Fahad Al Julanda al Said, Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, and Prof Dr Amer bin Ali al Rawas, Vice-Chancellor of Dhofar University.
