Al Wusta expected to get heavy rains

 
Muscat: Heavy thundershowers are expected over the governorates of Al Wusta (20 mm to 50 mm), while parts of Dhofar governorate and Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas will continue to get isolated rains.

There is a possibility of flash floods, and thundershowers occasionally associated with fresh downdraft winds and reduction in horizontal visibility.

Thundershowers and rain of varying amounts battered most governorates of the Sultanate of Oman as the impact of the upper air trough continued for the third day, on Monday.

Rains varying in intensity were reported in the governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahira, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, Muscat, Dhofar, and Al Wusta.



The Wilayat of Liwa recorded the highest rainfall amount with 61 mm, according to the measurement conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources on April 8-9.

The Wilayat of Al Khaboura recorded the second-highest rainfall amount with 42 mm followed by the Wilayat of Al Amerat with 36 mm.
