Home-based businesses get a push with 'Tamkeen' platform

As many as 52 Omani families who run home-based businesses got a fillip when the Ministry of Social Development represented by the Department of Family Development and Empowerment organised 'Tamkeen', a real time platform for introducing their products and services to the public under the auspices of Shaikh Rashid bin Ahmed al Shamsi, Under-Secretary of the ministry, at the Muscat Grand Mall from April 4 to 8.
'Tamkeen' is one of the most prominent programmes launched by the ministry envisioned to invest the energy of individuals and families to participate in national development. Its mission is to empower individuals and families and qualify them to be self-reliant.
The Productive Families Exhibition included many products and services initiated by different age groups and stages and accompanied many events, entertainment competitions, theatrical performances, and a review of success stories of cases benefiting from the support of the 'Tamkeen' programme.
The exhibition aims to invest the energy of productive families and enhance their capabilities in self-employment, and to introduce these families through their participation in local exhibitions and raise their economic level, and to introduce the role of the Family Development and Empowerment Department in serving the community and the target group.
It focuses on the economic development of cases benefiting from the social security umbrella with the aim of transforming them into self-reliant cases, investing their capabilities, promoting the concept of self-employment and reducing social security expenses, as well as helping these cases administratively, technically and financially to manage a small or medium project.
