MUSCAT: There are approximately 43.9 nurses for every 10,000 individuals in the Sultanate of Oman, according to the data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The Sultanate of Oman, along with the rest of the GCC countries, observes Gulf Nursing Day on March 13 each year, paying tribute to the efforts of all nurses in the health sector.
Nursing is a profession that focuses on providing care to individuals and communities in order to maintain or restore health and improve quality of life. 'The responsibilities are numerous, and this profession necessitates a great deal of loyalty and patience in order to save patients' lives,' said nurse Salem al Rabaani.
The workload increased during the Covid-19 pandemic, and it took a long time to get things back on track. A heavy workload can impair efficiency and quality of life. During the pandemic, there was a significant inverse relationship between workload and quality of life.
'Things are gradually returning to normal. The assistance of officials and managers, as well as social support, was critical in increasing our capabilities and allowing us to manage the negative effects of the workload. We appreciate having this day to commemorate our efforts to restore health. 'I also believe that society's understanding of the magnitude of the burden that we endured during the pandemic has grown,' Al Rabaani added.
It is worth noting that the goal of the day is to shed light on the accomplishments of nurses and the efforts made in the nursing field, as well as to improve the nursing profession in the country's various health establishments. It also seeks to honour the nursing profession and encourage nurses to provide high-quality nursing care.
