Oman win 2 gold, 2 silver at tent pegging World Cup

Oman won two gold and two silver medals at the World Cup qualifiers for tent pegging, hosted by the Sultanate of Oman from March 4 to 7 Al Rahba Farm in Barka.
The qualifiers were organised by the Oman Equestrian Federation, under the supervision of the International Tent Pegging Federation, with participation of five countries namely Sultanate of Oman, Kuwait, Yemen, Iraq and Germany.
Oman hosted the fourth qualifying round of the World Cup qualifiers of tent pegging, after three tournaments held in Sudan, Pakistan and Egypt. Two countries will qualify from each tournament to compete with eight countries in the World Cup next August.
Oman national team is represented by five riders under the supervision of the national coach, Mansour bin Ali al Mahrouqi. The team is represented by Hamad bin Nasser al Riyami, Safwan bin Zaid al Maamari, Hamad bin Saif al Raisi, Khalid bin Salim al Habsi, Waleed bin Zahir al Shuraiqi, and Ahed bin Khamis al Balushi.
The first day witnessed fierce competition on spear tours, three rounds for individual category, one round for doubles and three rounds for the teams.
Ahed bin Khamis al Balushi won the gold medal in the individual competition after obtaining 41.5 points, the Yemen team contestant Osama Abdul Khaliq al Hamzi, came in second place with 40.5 points and Yemen's Abdulaziz Mohammed Abdulaziz with 40 points finished third.
At the team level, the Yemeni team snatched the first place and gold medal, after scoring 143 points, Oman national team was able to get the silver medal after collecting 141 points and the Iraqi team claimed the bronze medal after collecting 122 points.
Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al Bakri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture, was the chief guest of the opening ceremony, in the presence of Mohammed bin Issa al Fayrouz, President of the International Equestrian Federation.
On second day, competitions were held in three rounds of sword category for individual category, one round for doubles, and three rounds for teams.
The individual gold medal was won by Iraq's Abdulhameed Rashid with 42 points, Oman's Ahed bin Khamis al Balushi, came in second place after obtaining 41.5 points, while the third place went to the Yemen's Osama Abdul Khaliq al Hamzi with 38 points.
In the team category, Oman national team snatched the gold medal after collecting 135.5 points, Iraq team claimed the silver medal with 134 points and Yemen took the bronze with 129 points.
Ahmed bin Saif al Abri, Secretary-General of the OEF and Dr Yousef bin Sulaiman al Wahibi, Treasurer and Executive Director of OEF, crowned the second day winners.
