The First International Conference on Scientific Research Management will be held from February 26 to 27 in Muscat. It is organised by Qatar University, Sultan Qaboos University, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation in the Sultanate of Oman.
Many international experts from prestigious international universities and research centres are taking part in the conference hosted by Sultan Qaboos University. It aims to direct scientific research towards finding solutions to the problems of society, and to benefit from research results, in addition to expanding scientific research financing programmes, and spreading research culture among industrial institutions.
It also aims to exchange best practices in scientific research management regionally and identify international practices to measure the quality of scientific research and its impact on society.
During the two days of the conference, the participants will study the strategies of scientific research management and their efficiency in terms of centralisation and decentralisation.
Dr Mariam Ali Al Maadeed, Vice President of Qatar University for Research and Graduate Studies, said: “This conference reflects the commitment of Qatar University and Sultan Qaboos University to employ the outputs of scientific research in developing society and promoting research and innovation in implementation of economic and social development programmes in the region in particular and the Arab world in general, as both are academic institutions. They are known for the quality of their knowledge, scientific and research production at the regional and international levels.”
She also added that one of the most important pillars of this cooperation between the two universities is joint conferences and events, adding that by holding conferences, the two universities continue their steady growth in the fields of higher education and scientific research, adopting the best international standards towards excellence, as well as partnerships between the two institutions in line with the needs of the local community and industry, which directly contributes to the social and economic development in the region.

In addition, to discussing the mechanism for building research capabilities and professional development in scientific research.
Sultan Qaboos University is an example of a successful regional partner. Since 2018, two universities have collaborated in financing 20 research projects through the International Cooperation Program for Joint Research Funding (IRCC).
